Joy with the Delivery of the Marlowes Pedestrianized Shopping Area and Bank Court Regeneration Works, Hemel Hempstead

James Doe, Assistant Director Planning, Development & Regeneration at Dacorum Borough Council advised the following;

“In July 2014 Dacorum Borough Council appointed Greenford Ltd as the main contractor to undertake the major regeneration of Hemel Hempstead’s pedestrian shopping area. It was an ambitious and challenging project and part of Dacorum Borough Council’s £30million+ investment to improve Hemel Hempstead town centre.

The scheme included the delivery of a diverse range of high quality public realm improvements with new feature paving showcasing a linear route of large trees, granite planters and play on-the-way activities, either side of a  central events square. The square was designed with bespoke granite paving, a rainbow coloured glass performance canopy, a large LED screen and a central sculpture surrounded by water jets, that work with coloured feature lighting and music. Further feature paving and a piazza style square were installed leading from the events square into Bank Court. The scheme also included the delivery of new public toilets, street lighting, feature lighting and street furniture.

The project was delivered within a busy town centre requiring minimal disruption to businesses, shoppers, street markets and residents throughout the project. Close management of the stakeholders was delivered by a dedicated Communications Officer who was outstanding in effectively managing stakeholders. Greenford Ltd’s attention to detail and quality management was exceptional and has resulted in a high quality end product. Their work ethic throughout the project has been outstanding with all staff taking personal pride in their work and delivering a very professional service. It has been a pleasure working with Greenford Ltd and we wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again in future.”

Greenford were thrilled to be such a large part of the Hemel Hempstead town centre regeneration project and contribute to the future of such a vibrant town. The Hemel Evolution works are an ambitious and admirable project which spans 7 schemes and will see over £30 million pounds invested back into the local community.
