Milton Keynes City Council instructed Greenford to install a new surfaced footpath between a new housing development and the existing road network.
The works crossed a field known to be the site of an old Roman settlement.
All works were undertaken under an Archaeological Watching Brief, due to the highly-sensitive nature of the site.
The project also involved gentle regrading and profiling of the ground to accommodate levels, while restricting dig depth as far as practical.
The work was carried out between March and August of this year, with Greenford as the principal contractor.
